They didn't. That was the problem. Marchisio is definitely not world class. He's just extremely reliable and versatile. He's capable of brilliance here and there. Many of the goals he's scored have been class. He's an 8/10 in almost every department. That's what sets him apart. You can't say that about many players.

They didn't. That was the problem. Marchisio is definitely not world class. He's just extremely reliable and versatile. He's capable of brilliance here and there. Thank you for understanding. Marchisio was good for 2011 season, after that he stop scoring goals so right now he is 6.5/10 at best. To me it is good to have him in squad, but definitely not some one who can carry Juventus forward. He is a supplemental player, not a vital one.

Sturaro, Asamoah, Padoin and lemina can't replace marchisio as we have already seen because they are ball winners not registas. They can't pass the ball to save their lives. They can replace khedira maybe (not fully) but they just are not distributors.

He is not modric or verratti in that he doesn't have their vision and penetrating through balls that Pirlo was most famous for. However, he is perfectly competent at doing the basic distributive job consistently and at a high level and thats really all we need given that Pogba provides some attacking magic than normal box to box CMs do not. Ofcourse it doesn't hurt to have modric or verratti but these would be luxuries. I am perfectly content with having marchisio doing the distributive dirty work while Pogba does the attacking magic.

Marchisio had a great season last year but I can understand why you dont want to consider him world class. He has only played that role last season when Pirlo wasn't around so its not certain that he can keep last season's form up. If he can keep last year's form up for a few seasons then he is world class in my opinion even if he is never the equal of verratti or modric.
