It was years ago when I read it but I found The Silmarillion to be a bit of a slog, almost like reading a report.

I'd like to pick some books from that list, even though I hardly find time to read novels. I've never read The Silmarillion, maybe because it's less famous compared to other books or authors from my generation. I don't know if it's worth it or not, but I really want to give it a try, since apparently it's a well known work. I'm not sure why I've been so indifferent to it.

If you think of it that The Hobbit is basically a book for children (of that era) and LOTR is for a more nature audience, The Silmarillion seems like an historical compendium in comparison. More for big Tolkien fans or Middle Earth enthusiasts.

I'd really like to pick up one of the books from this list, even if I don't read all of it, I can at least go through a few pages or skim through the sections. The problem is, I rarely get the time because of my heavy work schedule.
