Hang on, someone explain to me why Buffon's performance in the 2003 CL Final is cited as proof that Buffon isn't good at saving penalties?
He saved 2, which is usually enough to win a shootout. It's just that our PK takers were so horrible and Dida came out on top, saving 3.
Or am I missing something?
In any case, I think it's stupid to say that a goalkeeper is 'bad' at saving penalties, because 95% of the battle is guessing the right direction. Now one could argue that Buffon lacks in the 'mental battle' department, but they'd have to provide some cold hard stats to back that claim up.
