Listen, even at Lille, there was never a doubt about his talent.

Mainly the doubts were surrounding his ability to stay health and contribute without being a defensive liability or "walker" on the defensive side of the ball. Last year did nothing to stop those doubts. He couldn't play more than 15-20 minutes for over a year and when he was on the field and the opponent pushed into our defensive third, he was walking and contributing zero pressure or anything.

I would love nothing more than him and every other underachiever to have a turnaround year and be amazing for us. Solves a lot of our issues using parts we've already paid for. Let's hope this is the first brick of confidence to build him up for the entire year.

he is like a misunderstood genius, cannot really sync with any player, like he is playing his own game, but when he enters crazy mode, he is unstoppable ! we need that craziness once in a while

Around 80th minute mark he looked tired, so he played like 30-35 mins before getting tired. However his morale was good and thats so important, I felt like he is trying hard to blend in, make his space, and this goal will have done wonders.

Honestly i wish all our players the best, to grow, to become confident in their space and together as a team we can finally move forward. These players were not shit before they joined us, somehow circumstances has made them what they are, we need more individual performances like these from the lesser know players to come out of their shell.

I wish the same.

Douglas Luiz is a big one. He was absolutely dominant for Aston Villa. Of course I would love for him to "solve" our midfield issues by just being himself. He was so dreadful here after being so good for them, its crazy. I think Spaletti likes him so we'll see.

Great goal no doubt but outside of that he also had a highly mediocre performance overall, looked devoid of any ability or confidence, although maybe this goal will help him slowly regain some of it… either way i think he needs continuity which he won’t find here so a loan where there’s less pressure and more space might do him good, because selling right now still looks impossible.

I thought he really grew into the game. Was looking dangerous every time he touched it in the second half. Theres no point in selling now, doubt he has a market. Just hope he can stay fit and actually contribute
