Double yellow for Conceição in 5 SECONDS after giving a thumbs up to the referee for giving him yellow. Red card & send off.

Why did Chico give thumbs up for the yellow card ? Is the foul soft and he thought it shouldn't have been a yellow ?
I think the first was for protests after he got denied a potential PK(because i refuse to believe he got it for simulation which wasn’t at all the case here) and stayed on the ground in the box for long trying to force a VAR check, could have easily been one IMO but in the contact the defender seemed to touch the ball too even if he got his leg more so VAR didn’t even have the ref come to check on the replays, instead the ref then went over to Conceicao and yellow carded him likely for protests, after which he also gave him the thumbs up ironically and got a second yellow and red card subsequently.

Mariani to ref Juve very soon. :baus:
Pretty much my thoughts as well when seeing it, we’d probably be better off not starting Conceicao at all in the games that he’ll be officiating from now on because it will sure backfire.

But overall, it’s good news. He can rest and stay away from the national team and avoid the risk of injury.
Overall yes only that this was also their last game during this international break, so he’d have been on his way back anyway, though i guess he will be missing at least the first game of the next one.

3rd red of his career. 2 by italian refs, both double yellows. one for simulation (only punished on extremely rare occasions in serie a), one for a completely innocent thumbs up during a glorified friendly. add that he's always butchered without consequences and it looks like italian refs have a thing against this guy

okay this is ridiculous, he received the first yellow for simulation :baus: based on this one angle, it looked like a foul, but even if it wasn't a penalty and the defender got the ball, it never was a dive

mariani is an idiot.

It's kind of refreshing for me to live on both sides of this one.

Among Portugal NT fans, they think he lost his head and can be a dribble monkey with no end product.

TRUE.

However, he gets whacked far more than most players on the pitch and rarely wins referee calls.

Then on the Italy/juventini side, they know Mariani well. We've all seen how Lautaro gets away with yelling at him on the pitch to take a dump without so much as a warning.

I hope he learns from this. He almost cost his team points.

And a lot of the Portugal complaints were about his individual play not leading to enough passing to his teammates. He set up one great cross in the box that his teammates flubbed, so he took defenders mostly on himself in the match. Not a surprise.

And that's the duality of Conceição. Often decent service when he can, but a lot of times he takes on defenders because nobody else on the squad is willing. Often leading to hacking fouls that rarely get called.

Not surprising. Just a cunt that channelled his shinter merda energy. His ego destroyed when Chico gave him thumbs up. Pukeworthy ref like his teammate Doveri.
