They tried the same thing as they did with Ancelotti when he seemed already done and dusted and coaching an irrelevant Everton side and nobody expected Real Madrid to ever go for him again and he put them back at the top as well as revitalizing himself… only that such stroke of genius moves don’t happen that often.

He was coming off unsuccessful and trophiless stints at both Napoli and Everton where he seemed to be quickly nearing the end of his career at an elite level, but overall perhaps yes even in those years he wasn’t as washed up and bitter as Mourinho has proven himself to be since many years now.
