I'm not advocating for him either way, as it really depends on what he costs and who is after him. We aren't in a position to be offering 28 year old players (I appreciate this isn't especially old for a DC in Serie A) a big sign-on fee, agent fee and 6m per season, etc. But at the right price, OK.
That could drive up the price but it shouldn't matter otherwise.
6 mil is way too much obviously...

I'm especially hoping we don't waste / lose too much fucking time on these Bosman targets so we can go ahead and work on other transfers too. Get it done early for once...

Exactly this point. We could burn loads of time on an expensive free agent and still end up with a pony player. Need to ramp up decisive ...not cowtailing for Mateta orney nesri should be the min

Just came to think of it, for those who have seen him. How fast is he? We press high and I can't really decide what we need. We need someone fast enough to recover space. But we aren't great in aerial duels either, so that's a different type of defender we need. And we could really use someone with good feet given our possession oriented style, which could also perhaps push Loca up a bit in the build up. These are three different defenders, which one is Senesi and which one do we most need? I would argue that Kelly is a mixture of all three but not excellent (or great) in either, a kind of jack of all trades.

It's super depressing to spend some time in the "Best Defender Thread" and the first page you view after that is the Marcos Senesi thread.

I mean, come on people, what the fuck.

Football is dead.
Ok but to give bit of optimism: barzagli was signed when he was 29 turning 30.

cannavaro was signed age 30.

No club would offer him that kind of salary. If he were that good, top EPL clubs would already be chasing him. don’t think Juve would negotiate for a 28 yrs defender from a mid-level club with the salary he’s demanding.

Shaping up to be a new Kalulu thread. Needs a little more pessimism and we'll get there. Come on, I know you can do better in here!

Yeah because in Kalulu thread people were questioning his quality instead of the fact he’s been injured for 45games in the previous season and that Milan were trying to move him on due to worrying about those injuries relapsing… or we as fans just didn’t like him as a player and we weren’t worried more about getting a player that is injury prone while we were dealing with a injury crisis.

Can you for once stop spreading your odd agenda? This just seems like an attempt to compare apples with oranges only to play the moral high ground.

Disclaimer: I’m neither pro nor against this move, but i surely ain’t too excited about a Bournemouth player i never heard about before us identifying him as a target solely because he will be a free agent. Might be a good Gatti replacement however.

The agenda is on the other side obviously. It's another transfer being shot down without reason.

We can def use a few Bosman players as we're not City or PSG.

A little criticism would be okay and even nice to have it if contained some actual arguements why not. Some profiling of the player, a high salary demand, whatever.

He's not a particularly good Gatti replacement as he's a leftie. The team he comes from is a non-issue. Real bought a player there who people were shedding tears over...

Aside from the agenda part some of the other’s are fair points, what i was mainly contradicting was the comparison to Kalulu’s thread before arriving which was a very different case compared to this one…

Anyway, no surprise that many here see this player as nothing to get excited about so is normal that there will be some skepticism, although the fact he is available as a free agent surely makes this deal worth a gamble, more so if he is primarily a LCB, but than again it’s not really just about where the player is coming from as much as his mentality level and lack of experience despite nearing his 30’s next year and having little to show for other than being an somewhat reliable mid table CB throughout his career.

Add he is playing for a team that I assume is mostly sitting in the box. Never seen them so what do I know. But that usually increase the value and stats for defensive players. Who then get caught out in bigger teams. Gatti would do wonders in a relegation battler.

Yes, maybe it was not a complete comparison. There were reasons for Kalulu. Obviously very wrong reasons but still. Besides him only having 1 real injury before most people just complained because we missed out on Calafiori and Todibo.

Don't know about not having to show much when the rumoured interested teams are Chelsea, Atletico, Man United, Dortmund, Juventus and Barca,... Looks something to me. He won't be the next Cannavaro...

He is 29 in May. Why hasnt a big club gone for him? Liverpool seemed to be in some defensive crisis not long ago. Why didnt they make a move?
