There are many great shot stoppers or elite reflexes GK’s even in relegation teams and lower divisions, but what makes the difference between a world class GK and a mediocre one is made up of many factors and variables, from how they command their area all the way to their consistency levels, handling and positioning, heck even the mythical good with his feet is something that can change perceptions about certain weaknesses of a GK if he is part of a team that deploys the style of play that fits him best…
Anyway, probably the most important trait in a top level well rounded GK is his consistency, which brings me to DiGregorio, whom in my view is very good at certain things that did get him deservedly this far in his career, but the worst part is that he goes in this cycles of inconsistency even on what he usually excels at, and you mix that together with all of his other weaknesses and you realize that he is already 28yo and only has about two consistently good seasons throughout his career and a move to Juve should have been the opportunity for him to make a leap in quality and consistency but over a year has gone by and seems that either he can’t handle the pressure or is just not good enough ultimately, this despite him being a great shot stopper and overall competent GK for prolonged runs of games.
