I saw Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein in cinema on the weekend. It's getting a limited theatrical run before its global Netflix release on November 7.

I enjoyed it. The cinematography and costume design are stunning, definitely worth catching on the big screen if you can. The pacing felt just right.

It's not groundbreaking, but I'd still recommend it.

That said, don't go in expecting a horror film. Nosferatu fits that bill much more. Frankenstein plays more like a gothic drama than a straight-up horror.

This scene is one of my favourite scenes, captivating! charming and unique! I remember when I was a child, after watching this movie, I immediately went out and bought a can of beans and ate it enthusiastically.
Terrence Hill was the reason I fell in love with eating beans. For a long time, I would buy cans of beans and imitate him.

You had a wonderful childhood. Me, my brothers and my late father wore out the tapes for all the Trinity and Bambino flicks with Terrence hill and Bud Spencer.

The perfect type of slapstick b movies.

Also seen The bikeriders. Also quite good, cant get enough of Hardy on screen.

Not much of a engaging plot, but alot fantastic scenery and fine acting in this based on true story view into the detoriating of early bike gang culture.

I'm gonna continue on The theme for newer movies viewing today. My 3rd one will be the Brutalist.

The Bikeriders was only good because of Tom Hardy. Most of it was pretentious shit and Austin Butler was horrible.

Saying that Austin Butler was great in Caught Stealing. Very good movie that reminded me of some classics from the 90s.

Mickey 17 was a pretty big disappointment imo. Pattinson was pretty solid in this one but movie itself was pretty shit. I hope Bong gets back to making Asian movie without American production teams.
I haven't been following the movies lately, but know one thing, they are literally either remakes/copies or crap/long boring pointless stories and bullshit plot.

I found it to be very boring and too similar to Mary Shelly' Frankstein from the 90s.

Other than looking amazing I don't think it added anything to the story. Just another pointless remake imo.

Someone as brilliant as Guillermo del Toro should be creating new worlds and new story's but unfortunately most of the people in power in the Industry don't like to gamble on anything original.

I just saw Osgood Perkins' "Keeper" in cinema. Osgood once again shows that he has a unique visual style and unsettling atmospheric approach to horror.

Unfortunately, this movie is terribly written. The script is shockingly amateur.

I would not recommend this film to anyone.

watched the Frankenstein in Netflix and was overall happy with the experience, most of the movies these days are such a letdown that I’m happy whenever I watch something thats coherent. Not a 10/10 or 9/10 movie, but in a good way it feels like it was made 15-20 years earlier

watched WEAPONS yesterday, no a great shake in my view, but still better than some of the horror movies that I have seen recently that I hate and i had to skip parts because they were too boring and predictable. I really don't like these new movies that are being made, I'm not wasting my time anymore.
Some movies that are in my go-watch list:
Das Boot
Generation War
Cross of Iron
A Hidden Life
The Captain
They fall into the category of World War II films. I'm looking for movies more about the WW2 that are without distortion. The list above are films known for their historical accuracy and realism and in some way respected by historians.

Finished the first 4 episodes of the new Stranger Things season. I enjoyed the first two seasons since it actually builds up the story. Now it’s mindless special effects and action. Pretty underwhelming.

Stranger Things died many seasons ago. The mystery and thriller aspects are gone, and I feel like I've seen it already because I'm an 80s and 90s guy who watched all those iconic movies, including more abstract ones like Scanners, etc. Welcome to Derry is much better. Less complex story, but also a good horror aspect because Pennywise is always hidden somewhere in the background. Stranger Things was always carried by the excellent acting, but now its become a CGI mess like Avengers Endgame where you don't get many situations where the actors are allowed to act.
