I dont get the confusion, they got free loans, did not like them then went and spent money instead on someone they like.
What of that basic operation is confusing to you?
WE DO NOT WANT ARTHUR. So why are you confused non of the half dozen loans he has been on dont want him either?
Nico G is a runner, huff and puff type of athletic winger with little to no end product mostly. Its not really shocking Atletico prefer a playmaking winger who creates for others like Kang-in Lee. Even if mid level player, has something more of what they look for.
Why would they pay for a cheaper player they test ran and didnt like much, if they can afford to pay more for another?
They were loaned with option to buy, does relatively well enough to earn a permanent move, the buying club dont want to pay the pre agreed option, but still wants the player but for less than previously agreed.
Instead drops more money on someone else whilst still trying to low ball us.
Does PSG still want Kang in Lee? no, but Atletico are happy to drop 40 mill on him than to just pay the measly 25 mill for Nico which came at the request of Simeone, and seemingly want to keep him.
Arthur's form at Gremio almost warranted a recall to the Brazil side, and yet they weren't even prepared what was it? 5-10 mill? But thought we'd let him go for free instead. I fail to believe for one moment that a club even like Gremio's stature can't afford to part with a few million for someone who did a job for them.
Honestly we should abandon any talks of loan with option to buy formulas. either loan him at a cost, buy the player or loan with obligation. It's the same story every time
