There is also quite well argumented speculation that Nietzsche was gay. That puts nazis regime in to same line with with republican meetings.
Nietzsche hated german culture and propably was gay. Nazis thought that Nietzsche presented german culture well ( which he did, because he was clever as hell, but nazis did not comprehend that he hated german culture ) because he was well acknowledged. But he hated that culture and propably was gay which was illegal according to nazis.
Republican meeting played Springsteens Born in the USA, a song that's lyrics puts finger on the most painful parts of that country's history in that time.
Another way to view that is that both of those parties were very well acknowledged and wanted to move further on on those things, but I am cynic enough to think that they both ( nazis, republicans ) were not civilized enough.

There are so many and there are many sources you can check for that. If we just talk about the division of the power as it was done in western democracy, it comes from understanding that humans have evil in their soul (mind, genetic or whatever) imply that we need to protect us from ourselves. That’s what is different from others dogmas which may also have division of powers but far from the angle modern democracy.
The Bible is the compilation of centuries of stories about good and bad values written by men. It doesn’t come from God or from 2000 years ago, that’s what helps to shape our western constitutions.
To be honest basically every devout Christian I know imbues those values, both in Italy as in The Netherlands.
But I think what’s going on here is interesting, because you kinda see a clear difference between North-Americans and Europeans here. To put it in context, you guys are in the midst of a election race where Christians probably are annoying maga people, influencing your opinion, while here that doesn’t exist.
But also from a historic context, unless you’re a Native American, your country is relatively young, so probably that historic feeling which we have here, lacks a bit.

well US Constitution thinks otherwise. First amendment is there and it comes from the same “In God we Trust” guys.
And comparing against Atheism, People Folk and Islam, free speech has worked better under Christian countries for centuries.

Arab spring was possibly once social media were enabled so as soon as there were a channel to speak their mind, it comes a revolution.
About people folk, there’s very little to add. About atheism, it is hard to define core values (law is not the same) in a way that can be the same for the society as a whole so usually they failed and don’t last long but before they felt, less free speech and more censorship
