Disappointing for him and a bit strange as he has been excellent and pretty much the type of player you would want to play at RB behind Dembele. I don't think I'd chose many of those defenders ahead of him.

From a Juventus fan point of view it is good though that he gets a rest, especially given how much he has played this season.

I can't believe Kalulu isn't in the squad. Massive WTF for me.

But I would argue that Camavinga has been far too inconsistent this season. Khéphren Thuram hasn't been good enough either.

As for Lucas Chevalier, PSG are already looking to sell him after just 1 season. He lost his starting spot to Safonov at PSG and has not played since the end of January.

There's no justification to select Kolo Muani.

Konate has been a fucking disaster for Liverpool all season. No idea how he was picked.

He has performed consistently in almost every game this season and has arguably been Juve best player or at least the best defender. Leaving him out of the France squad was unexpected, especially since none of the defenders selected have shown better performances.

i think the reasoning is is he better than kounde as a rightback? kounde is better but not a big difference. one is a title winner and one isnt though.

as a cb he isnt ahead of the form saliba and up the americano are in.

lets see. don't discount injuries forcing call ups.

Kalulu has had rather poor performances with france as a RB. He has grown a lot under Spaletti as a RB but sadly not enough to make an impact with Deschamps. Gusto is a safer card to pick for a RB i would sadly agree. Kounde would be the starter and the other two battling for sub spot.

Konate is a centre back / has been playing all year as a centre back. I would have picked Kalulu over this guy as well but I can understand that Kalulu is evaluated as a RB and not centre back. Konate is out of form but he is a good player

unbelievable

Probably they didnt watch any games of him. Thats the status Juve already transformed. Nobody considers us a serious club anymore. There was a time where our players were mostly captains of their NT and even benched players were considered vital for their NT. Now they dont get called up.
If they were following Juve atleast, they would never ever leave Pierre out. But probably they watched the chaos with Tudor, the horrible results in CL and Serie A and decided that there isnt a serious contender for the NT.

Well realistically u want one defensive and one attacking fullback. As defensive an inform Kounde is probably better than Kalulu and for offensive one they called Malo Gusto

koundé isn't too defensive at all though. i bet malo gusto wins more balls and duels

koundé is a less erratic cancelo: he can dribble and carry the ball, he's not bad at passing within the final 3rd

i'd take kalulu over both as a fullback. but he's probably considered as a cb by dd

Odd choice leaving him out when in this kind of form, especially as he is versatile and can cover efficiently not only as a RB/RWB but also as CB too, and with Deschamps being ‘uno di noi’ we’d all probably expected him to pick Kalulu.

Though if we evaluate from a more neutral perspective i’m sure Deschamps wouldn’t have left him out unless he had valid reasons, with probably the main one being the fact Kalulu hasn’t been a regular for France at all throughout this qualifiers and has fierce competition on his position, along with having not trained him that often to really trust him more than others.

Im just saying it’s almost revolting when looking at it only from a Juve recency point of view where he had a great half year at club level, but at the same time this is in a club side playing in a declining league that hasn’t really challenged this season for anything major and suffered multiple humiliations with him on the pitch too, maybe it’s slightly biased of us to automatically expect him to be picked now just because he’s been a standout among a poor bunch here through his form/consistency recently and newfound crossing prowess… otherwise no doubt he is first pick in case of a defensive spot opening up(via potential injuries) and i do still hope he somehow eventually makes it there, primarily for his morale and all the experience he could gain from it, but i assume his current exclusion it’s not as much revolting to most French NT fans as it is surprising to us considering Deschamps affinity with Juve and Kalulu’s recent form.

Also, is this i believe the first major tournament under Deschamps tenure where they have no Juve player featuring?

Another good performance from him. His role in the first goal will get overlooked but he did brilliantly.

Easily the player of the season and probably the only one other than Yildiz who could have started in our scudetto winning teams.
