A player last year waited for us till the last day, and this year refused any other offer to wait for us close the deal.. skilled and technical.. can play within a group.. will be great with Kenan and Karim/Conceicao and playing under Spalletti for the first time..

Not that expensive as other says, eventually, a player price can only be judged after he plays not before.. understand the skepticism around the cost and quality, but thats premature to be honest.. personally I believe he will be great signing.. the one we need now and for the future..

I don’t know if removing performance bonus incentives from the player’s salary is really that good of a thing, i mean that type of bonus is supposed to motivate him and other’s in the team to actually strive to do better.

But overall yeah it’s a nice gesture from the player to renounce them in order to push for the move, though i’d have preferred we lowered a bit the base salary and kept performance bonuses high.

Players that need extra money motivation to perform once they step on the field, shouldn't wear our shirt to begin with. Fuck those.

Well, I don't know about canceling them altogether. It's a competitive market and most players are mercenaries. That's just the reality of things. It's not like we're producing world-class talents in our youth team every year.

Yeah the club should just disband performance bonuses altogether, over the last years it’s not like many here have been triggering them anyway.
Good one.

On a serious note; it's not about giving them. But a player that is less motivated when there isn't (much) money on the line obviously has the wrong motivation from the get go. Whether you win 5 euro or 50K after a game, you should give it your all. And it can't cross your mind for a second when prepping for a game. Let alone during a game...

He didn't play for us last year, so not sure where you're trying to go with that.
8 goals in half a season in a piss poor Juve side that scraped CL football on the last game of the season is still better than spending 30 mill on someone like Pellegrino who can hardly score double digits in an entire league season.
Kolo Muani has played 8 seasons of top flight league football. He has hit double digits in two of them. Three if you count him scoring 2 in half a season at PSG and then 8 at Juventus. His totals were 12 with Nantes in 21-22, 15 with Frankfurt in 23-24 and then 2+8 in 24-25.

Rather than spending 30 mill on someone like Pellegrino who can hardly score double digits in an entire league season we've spent spent 50 mill on someone like Pellegrino who can hardly score double digits in an entire league season.

I'd call it specifically useful for persuading players to come to Juve.
To some extent yes, i guess it’s also been used as a way to keep the base salary within a certain framework while adding easier to trigger appearance bonuses as part of a larger performance bonus package…

But in most cases it still serves as an incentive for players to be hungry for more and work harder towards achieving greater things.

I definitely disagree on this part. An athlete needs internal motivation. External does not work long term. Basically every study on the subject, says so.

And my own experience also does. When I played, I didn't try harder when my salary got bigger. On the contrary... I got older so motivation dropped a little even if I was paid more (performance related bonuses).

I agree on the first part of keeping the base salary low. From the club's persepctive it's less of an issue to pay more when it wins or when a player does well.

Idk man, i get your point to a certain extent but you are minimizing the importance of this performance bonuses to them being just plain useless, which i can’t agree with… after all majority of players at this level that make up the core of a team (which all have similar performance bonuses included) are by all means extra motivated and incentivized by the objectives set by the club, from finishing in Top 4 to actually winning trophies etc, basically aside from the personal stats related bonuses most of the others are there for valid reasons in most cases.

Nah, I don't say they're useless. They're good from the club's perspective and to keep costs in check when the player or the club doesn't perform.

As a motivational thing however, there is a shitload of scientific evidence saying external motivations don't last long term. That they're still being used almost every time doesn't exactly contradict this...

He looks good. How come he wasn't at the World Cup, though?

- - - Updated - - -

Having him instead of David or Openda will be a huge boost.
Kolo has outscored Openda only twice in any season of football- one of them being last year's race to the bottom*, and there has never been a year when he scored more goals than David.

*and this was because Kolo managed to score 4 in 9 continental games to Openda's 1 in 8. Kolo netted 5 goals in 41 total games to Openda's 2 in 34. Neither looks likely to give us a boost.

Because the dictator is the best striker in the history of the World Cups.

Because Dembele has a golden ball.

Because he missed at 22 and they don't trust him.

Even if he scored 20-30, he would sit like a mateta and get 10 only minutes.
Maghnes Akliouche
Bradley Barcola
Rayan Cherki
Ousmane Dembele
Desire Doue
Jean-Philippe Mateta
Kylian Mbappe
Michael Olise
Marcus Thuram

Of all the players Deschamps thought those NINE players would all be of more use than Kolo, and we decided to buy the 10th+ best and spend 50m on him, which PSG are going to spend on Alikouche who was included by Deschamps.

I'm normally optimistic to a fault, but this is a big fuckup transfer. I hope to god I'll be proven wrong.
