As far as modern games are concerned, I don't really go beyond the realms of Football Manager, Genshin Impact maybe a simulator game of some kind be it Euro truck sim.
I definitely prefer the nostalgic games preferably on original hardware, I was stacking up on Dreamcast, N64 and Megadrive games for a few years. As far as PS2 is concerned, I bought a 2nd ps2 which I found cheap for £20, happened to be a silver one which I've kinda wanted, I'll come round to modding that with a hard drive and include games which I can't get anymore because some of them are impossible to find or stupidly expensive now.
I modded a spare Ps3 too some time ago to do something similar again for similar reasons, although most of the games I've wanted on Ps3 I have hard copies of.
Similarly with my Wii which is also modded to play downloaded Gamecube and wii games. My ex and I used to play the Mario party games on it, was really good fun
Problem I find is just really finding the time to play all this, something tells me that when I either win the lottery or retire I'll be able to then lol

So what is the best hand held device to play these retro games? Can someone send me a link? Flying to Australia in a few weeks and this would be a fun things to have with me on the flight.
I got mine from Temu but you could be waiting a while, the genuine R36s are around £50 which I think is a lot, similarly on Amazon, but tbh I cant guarantee you'll get the genuine thing. Still nothing wrong with the clone/fake version, just cheaper plastic and an OS that's not as good, but the games bar N64 at least run fine. I think Dreamcast also has some performance issues too, bear in mind machines like Ps2/dreamcast were somewhat powerful machines for its time, ones which these handhelds can't compete with.
But the Gameboy/Ps1/PSP/Game Gear/SNES/NES/Neo Geo titles should be pretty solid.
