As far as modern games are concerned, I don't really go beyond the realms of Football Manager, Genshin Impact maybe a simulator game of some kind be it Euro truck sim.

I definitely prefer the nostalgic games preferably on original hardware, I was stacking up on Dreamcast, N64 and Megadrive games for a few years. As far as PS2 is concerned, I bought a 2nd ps2 which I found cheap for £20, happened to be a silver one which I've kinda wanted, I'll come round to modding that with a hard drive and include games which I can't get anymore because some of them are impossible to find or stupidly expensive now.

I modded a spare Ps3 too some time ago to do something similar again for similar reasons, although most of the games I've wanted on Ps3 I have hard copies of.

Similarly with my Wii which is also modded to play downloaded Gamecube and wii games. My ex and I used to play the Mario party games on it, was really good fun

Problem I find is just really finding the time to play all this, something tells me that when I either win the lottery or retire I'll be able to then lol

So what is the best hand held device to play these retro games? Can someone send me a link? Flying to Australia in a few weeks and this would be a fun things to have with me on the flight.
I got mine from Temu but you could be waiting a while, the genuine R36s are around £50 which I think is a lot, similarly on Amazon, but tbh I cant guarantee you'll get the genuine thing. Still nothing wrong with the clone/fake version, just cheaper plastic and an OS that's not as good, but the games bar N64 at least run fine. I think Dreamcast also has some performance issues too, bear in mind machines like Ps2/dreamcast were somewhat powerful machines for its time, ones which these handhelds can't compete with.

But the Gameboy/Ps1/PSP/Game Gear/SNES/NES/Neo Geo titles should be pretty solid.

The game boy version I had on one of those X games in 1 cartridges you used to be able to pick up in a market, I was kinda more of a Golden Axe fan, influenced by Double Dragon ofc.
Do you know Where can I get to play Double Dragon these days?

Add this to the list of nostalgia games I'd completely forgotten about. I think because it is similar to Streets Of Rage it had gone out of my head.
Probably one of the most played game as a kid. Used to get the right hump if I didn’t get that piece of ass at the end

My clone R36s has it, otherwise youll have to find an emulator which you can use on pc, phone, or mod a old psp (older version) and download the rom for it.

It's on Android (and presumably Apple) store for £2.49 playable on your phone. Reviews are mixed.

I saw this a few months ago and was looking to buy this funnily enough for my travels. Think the price put me off as it was so much cheaper than I thought it would be and got a little sceptical about it

Yeah I wouldn't go over £15 tbh especially if you're only going to use it casually. I really need to add more PS1 games to mine though, for some reason they've basically duplicated the library for the Genesis and Megadrive menu when they're the same console just different region.

Man I really need to find my data cable for my PS Vita, such an underrated piece of kit and would be my go to hand held as it feels really nice, bit of an underrated library to go with it, plus all the emulations from playstation 1 and earlier. Also the amount of homebrew stuff you can put on it makes it well worth the investment.

How do the PlayStation 1 games play on it?

If I could play Metal Gear Solid and GTA that's all I would need to be happy.

I don't play games that often so don't think it would be worth investing in something like a Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch.

I thought for a moment that it was the Sega Mega CD, they're worth quite a bit of money now especially to retro game collectors. Basically the run up to the Sega Saturn which flopped hard compared to the PS1 and N64.

What does this run off? cartridge and CD?
cartridge, It belongs my friend, I borrowed it for a day

It's blast, I'd play a whole day and it gives me nostalgic feeling.

Ah yes the Famicon clone console! never seen one in person but yeah they were a popular alternative to those who didn't have or access to buy the Famicon console.

but seriously Sega Mega Drive was something else and also The Sega Genesis. To me, they never get old.

    Seems like a clever machine.
I'm out of idea and a backward person when it comes about modern consoles and games. I can say, last week I played Black Ops 6 for about one hour and then FC 26 running on PS 5 but to be honest I got bored of them very quickly. I'd rather play wolfenstein and call of duty on the PC than playing XBOX and PS. More than that, I never get bored when i play Sega, Micro and other old consoles, they take me back to my childhood and bring back my child memories.

Some retailers sell old game consoles online through facebook and instagram at bargain price. Also, the price is negotiable and they may reduce the price.

There's a retro gaming market every 4 months in London that I try to go to every so often, it is literally just nostaglia, and somewhat making up for the childhood I never really quite had as I only really had an N64 and PS2 till I was able to afford my own consoles. I never got a Gamecube simply because I modded my Wii to play downloaded Game cube games using the built in game cube controller port, also because I'm running out of space for these games consoles, and shelf space for games now.

My earliest gaming memory is this, my dad's old machine (probably would have been 7 or 8 year old machine). The video doesn't pick up the screeching sound on the rainbow screen very well, it was horrific.

Back in the day you had to wait half an hour to play a game.
