The situation regarding the rescheduling of the Roma vs. Lazio match (Serie A Round 37) is being actively debated due to serious security and logistical concerns in Rome.
Here are the key details of the dispute as of May 12, 2026:
  • Cause of Conflict: Rome's Police Chief, Roberto Massucci, and the Prefecture are insisting on rescheduling the game because it coincides with the Italian Open tennis final. Both events take place in the same sports complex (Foro Italico), creating a critical strain on law enforcement and transportation.
  • Current Schedule: As of now, the official kickoff is set for Sunday, May 17, at 12:30 PM (CET). The police are categorically opposed to this time slot.
  • The Monday Option: The primary alternative is moving the derby to Monday, May 18 (evening). This decision is supported by the authorities, though both clubs (Roma and Lazio) previously protested against a weekday game due to the inconvenience for fans.
  • Impact on the Champions League: Since both clubs are battling for Champions League spots for next season, their match must take place simultaneously with other key games involving rivals (such as Juventus, Milan, and Napoli) to maintain sporting integrity. This means that if the derby is moved to Monday, Serie A might have to shift several other matches as well.
  • Additional Factor: Lazio is also playing in the Coppa Italia final on the Wednesday before the derby; therefore, a move to Monday would grant the team an extra day of recovery, making this option more acceptable from a physical standpoint.

Italian football has no limits, but some would say we are peaking. My chief in staff, who is also my nephew, has done wonders. My cousin who is CFO has been working tirelessly to create this league, which is soon surpassing EPL. My BFFs have been running the other operations and they assure me my pockets are filled for life and so are theirs. As I said, soon the world will realize that the talent we have built here is greater than anything anyone has ever seen. To ensure continuity I have set in motion that my friend's son will take over from me once my pockets are a bit too full. In the meantime, I will try to make friends with Infantino and of course this may have some spill over effects on Juventus. Yes, yes, we are sorry about it but it was inevitable. I mean, it will be. I mean... are you still recording?

I’m still not sure when will it be played exactly, did they settle for early kick off on Sunday or were they all rescheduled for Monday night?

From what i gathered from this thread it seems to suggest that it had changed to Monday , but apps like livescore etc are now showing that the games will be played during daytime on Sunday.

Perhaps atm it hasn’t been fully confirmed yet i assume.

Imagine buying tickets for this game with your return plane on Monday. Italy is a fucking shithole, fucking incompetent pricks always fighting. The league will be soon out of top 5 with such bad management.
