Win on penalties vs Spain. Italy U17 through and will play Belgium U17 in the final. Some interesting young players Varali in defence, Biondini in midfield, Croci (whos only 15) and our own young talent Corigliano in attack. Finally some talented young players emerging for Italy. The future sure is bright.
Weeeelllll... Italy won it in 2024. Portugal humiliated 3-0 in the final. Player of the Tournament: Francesco Camarda IT. Top Scorer: Rodrigo Mora PT. Fast forward do 2026- Rodrigo Mora playing for Porto, market value (transfermarkt) 38mil. Francesco Camarda played a season for Milan reserves, this season loaned out to mighty Lecce where he recorded grand total of 679 minutes. Market value 15mil.
Couple more talents from the team of the tournament Geovany Quenda PT- played 2 seasons for Sporting, sold to Chelsea for 50mil. Mattia Liberali IT- 24/25 season in primavera, this season recorded 1208 minutes in Serie B for the mighty Catanzaro.
Fast forward couple more year- everyone is flipping out, because there are no talents in Italy. Most likely the damn mobile phones to blame. This generation of kids is just lazy.

This Italy U‑17 team has a few very good talents. It’s still unclear whether they’re just a temporary spark or genuinely have real long term potential. I’ve watched a few of their games, and to be fair they looked quite good, at least they performed much better than the senior Italian team. These youngsters need to work under professional coaches and play in competitive leagues so their potential can fully develop.

Nice to see the faces and names of the future generation that will miss out on yet another WC.

Jokes aside, good for them, and i do want to believe this is a sign of better things to come in the future but i remember them winning or getting far in other U’s tournaments in the last years and we’re yet to see any signs of progress from majority of those players.
If anything it proves that Italy still produces talent, but the system is so rotten at all levels that majority never stood a chance.
