Was keen to follow the NHL this season when I thought it came as part of a DAZN subscription like Serie A did.

Turns out it doesn't. Cant be fucked paying an extra £110 a year for a sport I'll never be able to watch live.

Ps. Fuck the Oilers

Your Canadians drafted LJ Mooney in the 4th round.

2 of my nephews are stud youth hockey players that play for the Penguins Elite program in Pittsburgh that he played for, so I've known about this kid since he was about 12 or 13 (plus he's cousins with Logan Cooley, from that same program)

He was projected as a future 1st round growing up, but he just never grew.

It'll be interesting to see if he can overcome his lack of size. I think he's literally like 5'6, 150 pounds right now ---- but he's scrappy with a lot of fight, and unbelievably skilled.

To all of those who thought that my Habs would be mediocre.

Kiss my fucking ass.

The youngest, most exciting team in the league with not 1, not 2, but THREE Calder trophy candidates this year in Dobes, Kapanen, and the brilliant Ivan Demidov.

But don't worry.

There's more in the system

Fowler
Zharovsky
Hage.

And they still have draft capital and will have tons of cap space next year.

So please don't freak out if you see Sidney Crosby in our uniform by the trade deadline.

I like what they're building and they'll be fun to watch, but I think that division is too tough right now.

I think it'll be similar to last year. Low 90s points and miss out on the playoffs by a few points

If they were in the east, I'd have them as a playoff team
Thoughts after this 8-2-0 start? Absolutely flying at the moment.

I saw maybe 2-3 Detroit games.

    It's such a surprise that there's 1 player Larkin and that's it
The Yzerplan isn’t really working out thus far. But we still have a lot of talent we drafted over the years waiting in the wings. I don’t consider Larkin an elite player anyway.

They're fun to watch and doing great, but it's 10 games and I'm not going to overreact to anything.

if you told me the Canadiens, Penguins, and Mammoth would be 3 of the top 5 teams with the most points to start the season, I'd think you're crazy -- but it's obviously a small sample size where all these teams are all still pretty lumped together. I'd throw the Devils in there too, but they're usually good until they inevitably get crushed by injuries and fall apart lol.

But yeah, I still think they're a fringe playoff team. Although I had Minnesota over them, and they've looked putrid to start the season (as have St. Louis), and I have a lot of questions about them and their ability to score outside of Kaprizov/Boldy. I think they have a better chance of finishing 3rd in the division than fighting for a wild card spot, where I originally thought they'd be.

Seeing Logan Cooley on fire lately has been awesome though. That's my guy.

I'll take that bet. I give that a 0.0000000001% chance of happening in season, and only because I won't say there's a zero percent chance.

Another bad season by the Penguins, with Malkin retiring after the season, and players like Karlsson, Rakell, and Rust traded at this year's deadline or early in the offseason, I could see it being a possibility in the offseason.

Cooley just signed for 8 years, $80m.
