How? This man right here. For a guy that has taken so much heat (a lot of it more than fair) in his career for failing on the big stage, he certainly put up an all time performance today and quieted up those doubters -- at least for a day.

Wings have been eliminated once and for all. I think I’m officially off the Yzerplan at this point. Just too many weak players and losers in this team. Keep Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson, and some of the other youngins but don’t care about the rest.

10 years now. Yikes. They deserved to get booed off the ice tonight.

My problem with Yzerman is he's afraid to pull the trigger on a big move. Quinn Hughes was there for the taking. Yzerman doesn't have the balls to pay the price and pull the trigger.

It's also a reason I hated when Juve hired Pirlo -- because at some point, they'd have to fire Pirlo. I'm not sure ownership will fire Yzerman. They'll want him to voluntarily step down or take a "promotion" with more pay to "President of Hockey Ops" and bring in a new GM under him.

Hughes would have been an obvious choice. And he even had Yzerman's favorite prerequisite as well since he played for Michigan in college. So it just makes no sense whatsoever. You're probably right - he's scared to make the big move. That's a reason to get rid of him alone.

Been to a lot of games this year for the Blackhawks but the game two nights ago to end the season against the Sharks was a lot of fun.

Really hoping and praying we get lottery luck and get 1 or 2. Time will tell.

I’m hoping you don’t get that bro. Sorry.
Worst case scenario, we don't get a good pick with our pick but we've got so much draft capital the next few years its insane. We really need to trade some of it for Knies or something. Getting 1st or 2nd overall would be so awesome!

There is so much uncertainty with some of the American players with their Canadian teams. Auston Mathews with Toronto. Hellebuyck spoke out against the Jets management this week.

I think Brady Tkachuk loves Ottawa, and the fans love him back -- I am just not convinced he is going to extend his contract. If they didn't make the playoffs, I could have seen that heating up this summer. Maybe a 5 game series loss to Carolina in the first round brings more heat to those rumors.

At age 26, he's the kind of guy I'd target if I was Chicago. I think he'd be a perfect fit for that organization.

Although I'm not sure how open he'd be willing to go to such a bad team right now. He may be looking to go to an organization that is in a "win now" window.

I think Minnesota is another team that could pique his interest.

I agree on Tkachuk. A gritty player would be perfect because of all the undersized, speedy scorers we have and will continue to have in the system.

Bedard, Nazar, the (hopefully) Russian phenom Kantserov, Lardis, etc. Lot's of speed, lots of scoring potential, most of them smaller. Frondell is a big boy and I like that about him.

Would be interested to see what we can move for another scoring threat with some gritty and fight in him.

We also have a lot of cap space. And that will only get bigger as the cap increases so aggressively these next 3-4 years.

lol can I take that prediction back? I've noticed him more hacking and whacking after the whistle than doing anything in the offensive zone. He looks old.

This series has been absolutely terrible so far, which leads me to an extremely unpopular hot take. While the emotions of playoff hockey are fun, I think the product is significantly worse. I'm more of a speed/skill guy, which you see more in the regular season. The way teams play more tight/physical in the playoffs, and the refs let a lot more go.

It would be like in the Champions league if Bayern and PSG played the semifinal like an Arsenal vs Arsenal game, with the referees letting all kind of physical play go.

I still love playoff hockey. I just wish it was played a little differently.

I'm already dreading a potential Hurricanes/Flyers 2nd round. There might be 20 shots combined all game by both teams.

I think the physicality and the unpredictability is what makes playoffs fun, at least for me.

That said, I don’t watch regular season of much anymore lol, so I’m biased.

Counter point, that physicality and "letting things go" by the refs is actually how hockey has been and should be.

They call too much during the regular season because they want the game to be more open, fast paced, and exciting for viewership and fans and goals. Playoff hockey is actually hockey where they call things and let things ride like that have for the last 35-40 years.
