I love Bristol's Getdown Services. They hit an absurd, hilarious, and intense mix of comic fun, dance punk, showmanship, and unabashed belly-shaking self-obliviousness. They're a body slam to the whole self-absorbed indie genre.
Here they're starting a show in Paris last year. Clothes still on (they will be barechested and swinging large bellies before the end). They play the audience with a nod to Joe Dassin's "Les Champs-Elysées" and then get into it at 2'10" with one of my favorites of theirs, "Deadly 60". Masterpiece.
As one critical called their live shows,, "signature sweat infused danceability, complemented effortlessly by the duo’s absurdity that operates somewhere between watching your embarrassing uncle do karaoke and genuine artistic genius"
