If you had to visit one of these cities for the first time in the summer, which would you pick and why?

Rome
Madrid
Lisbon
another European city
Vancouver
Lisboeta here. I'd pick Vancouver out of this list. Just weather and tourist-wise, I think it will be a better outcome.

Madrid and/or Barcelona it could be

Maybe save Italy for when I want to see Juve again, if the world doesn't end first
Barcelona better than Madrid, but it will be packed with overtourism. Too many stinking Americans.

If it has to be Barcelona or the others in Europe, I'd lean towards Rome. Just there in December, which is generally off-season. But somehow they seem to absorb their tourists better.

I heard Madrid is boring for solo travelers. I have on my list to visit Sevilla, Marbella/Malaga and Granada (mainly for Alhambra castle).

Barcelona during the summer is kinda a mess recently.
I was a solo traveler in Madrid in November. I enjoyed it, but then I like art galleries.

Malaga/Marbella is more a beach thing. Great in summer. But that is true for everyone in the country.

Sevilla is awesome and one of my favorite cities in Spain, but in summer you will roast like a rotisserie chicken. Granada's Alhambra is amazing, but the town is a little limited beyond that. However in the mountains there it will be a little cooler in summer.

Vancouver seemed like a good option because I have to go through Toronto in any case, and would be the cheapest flight wise. The appeal to me is the west coast and natural beauty. No idea how much fun it would be otherwise as a solo traveler, being Canada.

Edit: oh yeah, there's also the world cup which I'm not sure adds or subtracts.

If I do go to Spain I'm thinking of at least a few days in Madrid then go to Barca. Those tourists though

Rome was my first choice but Madrid fits the budget better. And to go Italy but not see Juve would be a shame, even if my care cup is currently empty, so maybe another time.

My 34 year old cousin passed away on Friday. He had type 1 diabetes since he was a kid but always managed to keep Diabetic Ketoacidosis at bay, except this one time.

Sucks not being able to attend his funeral. He was one of the best people I knew.

I can't even imagine what his parents and brother must be feeling like.
