Well, on paper Argentina never added up to the hype. It was only their ConMeBol record we had to go on.

This one felt like France at WC 2002.
100% agree. Look at this line up...

Argentina XI (4-4-2): Martinez; Molina, Otamendi, Romero, Tagliafico; Di Maria, Paredes, De Paul, Gomez; Messi, Martinez

Are any of that backline world class? A midfield of Paredes and De Paul is so average. Di Maria and Messi are who they are. But they're in their mid-30s and their club form at the moment hasn't been good. Martinez's club form also hasn't been exciting. Where did this hype come from?? They kind of annoy me as a team, because they really played like they thought they were favourites. No respect for the Saudi's in that second half.

Anyway, viva the House of Saud. They played with a lot of spirit.

Apart from Maguire, I think England's team looks solid and well balanced. Quality wide players, young dynamic midfield and a WC striker.

But I think their ceiling is a final. Just think some of their players lack big game mentality which has almost always been the case with them.

All these Argie players (Paredes, Romero, Di Maria in particular) playing within themselves and getting “injured” playing for their clubs so they could save themselves for the World Cup. Look like morons now.
This makes me happy , hopefully they’ll get knocked out

I think Brazil has the most complete team of contenders.

Belgium already past their peak, their best defenders are old or retired. Also they should have done something (win euros) by now. They dont have big team mentality. They will fall on their asses again.

Spain lack a Villa or Torres type of striker. If they had that they could do something.

France too many injury issues and defending champs curse (their group is too easy to fail there). Swiss knocked them out even with Pogba and Benzema last summer.

Germany dont convince me either, still rebuilding and work in progress. All euro sides have flaws.

I was suspicious about Arg defense to win WC and of course some of their individual players form as we know very well like Di Maria.
Spain has Morata

Eventhough I like Messi and started appreciating him more since his PSG move, he just showed once again that he isn't a leader. How could a player, that is regarded as the best ever, fail to make an impact against f'ing Saudi Arabia?

I personally think it'll be an early exit for the Argie's. I can see them making it out of the group phase (I don't rate this current Mexican squad and Poland is a hit or miss) but then they'll be knocked out by Denmark or France.
