No, just a personal preference. Under his photo it says "elite defensive technique", and that's indeed what describes him perfectly. Watching him defend was like watching the greatest attacking players attack.

Unless UEFA have the balls to walk away and refuse participation, this will 100% go through. UEFA has only 55 members. FIFA votes work on a one-member, one-vote principle. If every European nation rejects the plan, that still leaves 156 associations across the globe, and it would require only a simple majority to pass the proposal.

My candidates will be Aldair, Lucio and T.Silva (not in any particular order). I know if people says Brazil most will mention how good their attacking talents. But their defenders deserve any mention too, otherwise they can't win any world cup. Van Dijk shouldn't be in this list.
