Sorry about the slowdowns this morning, an automatic backup didn't quite go as planned so had to cancel and reboot the server when I spotted the slowdowns this morning. It does a huge backup of all data the first day of each month then nightly, incremental backups every day, these are then stored securely and remotely.
As for server packages such as PHP, Apache and Redis they are all the latest and stable releases compatible with this forum software.
It's more the case of the forum software starting to show its age as above mentioned server packages continue to be developed so minor changes are introduced and for example some functions in the forum software code could now be depreciated or at least it will log errors in the background to file, causing slowdowns and timeout like you guys mentioned above.
Yes the forum software will be updated at some point but it's a big task.
